- Don’t forget to put the Relay for Life
date on your calendar: July 25–26 from noon to noon. We are working on
the plans for our theme right now and I will give you more information
as we get it. We will once again have plenty of room for you to camp out
if you want. It is fun to stay for the night. If you have not joined us
at the Relay before, it is an amazing event and so much fun. The
Survivor’s Lap is special for all our kids. This year we will be very
near the Children’s Area so that will be great for our kids.
We have 2 dates already for fundraisers, please check your calendar
and see if you will be able to help us. We are going to be participating
in our second annual "Curbing Cancer" on Thursday, June 19th. It
was lots of fun last year standing on the corner waving and talking to
people as they donated to the cause. We will be on the corner from 4pm
to 6pm.
The Lane Electric truck wash is scheduled for July 11th or
12th and will only take about 2 hours. Details to follow in upcoming
newsletters.

Easter Egg Hunt
The Eugene Bible College has hosted us on
their grounds for many years. It is a great place, but this year I was
worried. With the Easter Egg Hunt scheduled in mid March, I was worried
about the weather. But, once again, we got the Hunt in, between the
rain, and the kids didn’t care anyway, they just wanted to find as many
eggs as possible! It was hard for them to wait for all of the kids to
arrive. Once everyone was there and I said "Go!" they were off and
running. They were also on the hunt for the "Golden Egg." There were 4
of them hidden and the ones who found them won a prize. It was fun to
watch as they ran about filling their baskets with eggs, I even found a
couple from last year! The teens looked and looked for their "Golden
Egg" and it just couldn’t be found. Even Robyn and I looked where we hid
it and we couldn’t find it! It must have gotten stepped on and buried in
the the mushy ground. So, after giving up the hunt, we put their names
in a drawing and pulled out the winning name. This year’s winners of the
"Golden Egg" hunt were: Owen Colley, Madisyn Huuki, Gabe Laws and
Micayla Huuki. We had another fun filled Easter Egg Hunt with 16
families braving the weather to come on out.
This year, we had a
visit from the "Easter Rooster." I want to thank my son Chris for
volunteering to be the Rooster. He had a blast playing a rooster and
chatting with the kids. A couple parents asked "Where’s Chris?" I
pointed to the rooster. Chris got to have a little fun in his costume
before the Hunt. He went knocking on some neighbors doors, startling the
girls that answered! The therapy dogs also visited again with their
owners. They are so gentle with the kids, we love having them there.
Thank you to Don and his dog, Oro, Laura and her dog, Jag and Shelley
and her dog, Deuce.
I also want to thank Nichole and Charissa Lowry and Jordan
Thompson for helping hide the eggs before everyone got there. Thank
you to Tracy Adams and Coastal Farm and Home Supply for supplying
us with buckets for our Easter baskets and the Rooster costume (it was
perfect!) Many thanks to Catherine Colley and Lori Rehfeld for
filling the hundreds of eggs we hid for the kids. Thank you Janice
Shephard for putting together all the buckets. And, a BIG thank
you to Eugene Bible College for once again letting us storm their
field in search of eggs and allowing us to use their covered picnic
area. Thanks to all that showed up, it was a fun day!

SOUTHERN OREGON
Our Southern Oregon
families had a great time at 1000 Springs for their annual
snowmobile rides sponsored by the Rogue Snowmobilers. It was all
smiles for our children, and a great day for everyone. They treated us
to a delicious lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and tons of
munchies. Then it was off to ride the beautiful trails. Many months of
planning on their end go into making it extra special for our families.
It’s also fun to look at the pictures they have hanging in the warming
hut from years prior. A special thanks to Dennis and Barbara Hammlin
for their love and hard work. They organize this event and make it a
family effort. Their son was unable to attend this year, as he is
stationed in Iraq, but we look forward to having him attend next year’s
event. The whole snowmobile club hold our families in their hearts and
it really shows. Thank you to everyone!
On June 7th, the
Southern Oregon Corvette Club is hosting another fun day for our
families. Please mark your calendars and keep an eye out for invitations
in your mail.

Butler is a leading neuropsychologist at OHSU who works with childhood
cancer patients. He will also be available to answer your questions.
The weather mirrored the sunny smiles on the faces of all the
families that attended the 2nd annual Central Oregon Candlelighters
snowmobile day making it a huge success! Families enjoyed snowmobile
rides and sledding down a hill made especially for us just outside the
winter shelter at
Wanoga Snow
Park. This year we had six families attend and
the sleds never stopped running. The weather was fantastic and the snow
was fabulous. An Easter egg hunt complete with treats put the finishing
touch on an action-packed afternoon. A huge heart felt thanks goes out
to the members of
Moon
Country and Lodge Pole Dodgers Snowmobile Clubs
for making this day one of fun and many memories.
