Interested in helping Candlelighters For Children With Cancer with your community event? We’d love to have your support! Each year, thousands of creative and committed community volunteers like you spearhead innovative fundraising projects and special events to raise vital funding, support and awareness for Candlelighters For Children With Cancer and the many children and families we help.
Beneficiary events include everything from benefit concerts, walking, running and biking events, golf tournaments, auctions, wine tasting, yard sales, Coins for Candlelighters (a great high school fundraising idea), casual Friday’s at your office (pay to wear jeans)… the sky’s the limit. 2012 OREGON CANCER SKI OUT – March 4th and 5th, 2012
In 1988, devoted Candlelighters supporter, Larry Chadwick, and a small group of friends started the Oregon Cancer Ski Out as a way to positively channel their sadness and frustration over the loss of loved ones to cancer. The idea was to create an event that would benefit cancer research, hospice and cancer prevention and related programs. The event had to be meaningful, affordable and well organized, but above all, it had to be fun…serious fun! The result is a unique and fun two-day ski/snowboard event with a 5-member, team-based format that rewards consistency, not speed, making it possible for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities to participate.
Again this year, Candlelighters will be one of the beneficiaries of the March 4th and 5th, 2012, Oregon Ski Out 24th Anniversary event. You don’t need to be an expert to participate! Olympic Champions Phil and Steve Mahre and other celebrity and former Olympic professional coaches will be on hand to coordinate teams and assist skiers with professional race tips and instructions. Terrapin Events – Cinco de Mayo Race – May 6th, 2012
We are thrilled to announce that the Terrapin Events – Cinco de Mayo Race, the coolest Spring race in town, has chosen Candlelighters as the event beneficiary! Come on out on May 6, 2012 and enjoy a locally produced race with three great distances to choose – a half marathon, 5K and 10 K run/walk plus a kid’s half-miler. Participants get tasty beverages, great food from Pepino’s restaurant and live mariachi music at the after race party, all included in registration! Awards for each race will be given. To register and support Candlelighters, go to www.terrapinevents.com and click on the Cinco de Mayo tab. If you are not a runner, then please consider signing up to be an event volunteer. We will be calling on volunteers from age 16 on up! This will be a great way to get in your high school community service hours! Each volunteer will be giving a volunteer t-shirt and an opportunity to work a wide variety of race event duties from handing out water on the course to helping in the food area.
