Abigail Dawn Ver Valin

In Loving Memory of

Abigail Dawn Ver Valin

“Abi Angel”

October 8th, 2002-October 27th, 2004

Abi's Website

Abi was born October 8th 2002, on a warm evening, with a beautiful crescent moon in the sky.  From the moment I saw her beautiful face looking up at mine, I knew my life was instantly complete. From that moment on, I was her Mama. From the very start, Abi was the happiest little baby girl, always wearing a big smile on her face.  She would smile so hard, one of her eyes would close!

November 5th 2003, only 13 months old, doctors at Legacy Emmanuel Children’s Hospital found a tumor in Abi’s liver and masses in her lungs and diagnosed her with Extra Skeletal Myoxid Condrosarcoma. My Mom, Abi and myself, all moved to Portland so Abi could be closer to her doctors. We spent 7 out of the 9 months at the hospital for her chemotherapy treatments.  Abi got so sick in between treatments that the hospital became our second home. Despite all the pokes, surgeries, Hickman lines, pick-lines and port-a-caths, my little girl endured, always smiling. Her spirit never faded.

Abi was such an amazing little lady.  She loved to dance, especially with her Mama and Nana.  Her favorite artist was Train. As soon as that CD started, she would jump up from where ever she was and lift her arms up to me, or climb up onto my coffee table and start to dance.  She also loved movies. Andre, Free Willy, Homeward Bound, Far From Home, Finding Nemo, Gordy, and The Wiggles are just a few of Abi’s favorites.  She had a fascination and love for all animals, but she was especially fond of sea mammals. In one of the many hallways at Emanuel Hospital, there is a big fish tank. Every time we would walk or ride by in the wagon, we would always stop and admire the fish.  She would say, “Fishhh!”.

Abi loved to learn. She was determined to learn and do everything she could. Abi was in the hospital for a month after half of her liver was removed. When we got home she was so weak she couldn’t walk, but with determination and hard work she was up walking again within a week!  She wanted to learn how to jump so badly! She only got a few centimeters off the ground, but oh boy was she proud!  I remember the first time Abi ran. She was almost two. She was so happy to be running with her other little friends!

Abi was so smart.  I would ask her to get her diaper and wipes for me and she would gladly go into her bedroom, open up her dresser drawer and get the diaper and wipes that I had requested.  She would even go get her pajamas! Every time I would start to clean the house, Abi would grab her baby wipes and start wiping down the coffee table or the entertainment center to help out. She was so amazing.

Abi loved to play with her friends.  She loved to ride her little John Deer tractor around the house.  We would read and she would point out things on the page. If there were cookies on the page, she would grab them and pretend to eat them. Most of all, she loved her blanket, baby doll and milk.

I know the second Abi left my arms that afternoon of October 27th 2004 to go to heaven, she became my angel.  There are so many times when I’m feeling down, and all of a sudden I just get this wonderful happy sensation in my heart.  I woke up one morning after dreaming about Abi all night with a song in my head. The chorus is, “Light up, light up, as if you have a choice, even if you cannot hear my voice, I’ll be right beside you dear”.  It’s amazing the gifts I still receive from my precious little Abi Angel.

Life without Abi is absolutely unbearable at times.  The only thing that keeps me going is knowing someday I’ll be able to hold her again…for eternity.

                           I LOVE YOU ABI ANGEL

Lukas Aaron Reynoso

His smile could light up an entire room. He could make you laugh. He was my little Prince, and I miss him so much. He was the bravest, the strongest, the most incredible young man ever, and I hate that cancer took him at only 15 years old. 7 days after being diagnosed. Its so unfair, why didn't someone notice he was so sick, and why did he have to be so brave. I miss you Luke, and I love you forever.
