RFAC Day 7
September 19, 2010
We’ve arrived Saturday afternoon in Elgin. Yesterday on our option day, we had a great team ride out with some of our honored kids and families. We were fortunate to have a nice, flat level turn-around for the kids to ride around on with the whole team behind them.
Today’s ride had an elevation gain of 6600 feet- the most climbing we had done all week. We were fortunate to have good weather, and the grades weren’t too steep. We were fortunate to get through the week without any rider mishaps. We are all looking forward to a good night’s sleep in our own beds.
This years Ride For a Child was another great experience – thanks our honored children, support team, and riders who made this year a success. Be sure to contact us if you would like to join our team for 2011!
RFAC Day 5
September 19, 2010
After a layover day in Waitsburg, Washington, we have cycled 76 miles to Pendleton. Though not an extremely long ride, rolling hills and headwinds combined to make it a challenging day. We have a beautiful campsite. Tonight we bought a cake and celebrated Penny Olson’s birthday.
Our honored child David’s family visited our camp today, and will join Chelsea’s & Chloe’s family for a ride out in the morning. Attached are photos from today’s ride and festivities.
RFAC Day 3
September 16, 2010
Today’s ride had it all – long climbs, sweeping descents, and strong headwinds. The RFAC team rode strong with the names of the honored children on their backs. New friends were made as RFAC members helped pull other Cycle Oregon riders through the headwinds into lunch and, finally, to the finish. Attached are photos from the third day.
RFAC Day 2
September 14, 2010
A hard day, and another tomorrow – here are some photos from today’s ride.
RFAC Day 1
September 13, 2010
Our entire RFAC team arrived safely in Enterprise after a beautiful 45 mile ride from Elgin. Except for a few mechanical difficulties, the day was a huge success. To a rider, we are all focused on our honored children – David, Andrew, Gage, Chelsea, Riley, and Karlee. Tomorrow we face a bigger challenge, riding 85 miles with lots of hills. For sure, we will be drawing on the strength of all Candlelighter children. Look for an update and pics tomorrow after our ride. Included are a few photos from today’s ride and relaxing at camp.
